Government Girls Higher Secondary School Zadibal was inaugurated as a high school way back in 1957 and upgraded to a higher secondary in 2014. During these decades, thousands of students have obtained their education from this school.

This School has enough infrastructure not only for Conductive classroom Teaching-Learning Process, but for all extra Curriculum activities, monitored by a skillful and competent faculty.

The Staff and Administration has and will provide right direction to the thought process of the students along with skills for their practical future life.

INSTITUTIONAL PROFILE
Government Girls Higher Secondary Institute Zadibal is situated in the heart of Zadibal constituency of the Srinagar city, and is surrounded by the Madeen Sahib Shrine, Iqbal Khomeni Hall, Aastaan Mir Syed Shamas-ud-Din Iraqi and Mirza Kamil Sahib Shrine. The area is about 7 km from the city central Lal Chowk. It was the center for women empowerment through education when the concept of girl education was alien and taboo.
The foundation stone of this institute was laid on 27th September 1957, by then Prime Minister of autonomous J&K Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad as Government Girls High School Zadibal. It was upgraded to a Higher Secondary Institute on 1st February 2004. The school campus comprises of three big and three small buildings including academic and administrative blocks with well-equipped Science, Computer, EVS and Stenography labs. At present there are over 500 students enrolled in the institution in different streams including Science (Medical + Non Medical), Commerce, Humanities. Moreover, a new ICT lab has been established in the institute for smart classes.
The institution is presently headed by Mtr Shabnum Naheed, whose hardwork and determination has led the institute to scale new heights and morale amongst the leading government institutes of the valley. The alumni of this institute include renowed Doctors, Engineers, Scholars and other High Rank Officials.

CODE OF CONDUCT/DISCIPLINE:
Conduct of students in the campus shall be clearly monitored. Discipline being an important criterion for shaping the growth and development of students, they shall have to adhere the following rules devised by the institution in this regard.
-
A student possessing a valid identity card issued by the institute shall be allowed to enter the premises.
-
Use of cell-phones and indulging in any other unfair activity in the campus is strictly prohibited and shall invoke penalties and disciplinary action.
-
A student remaining absent continuously for six days from the institute will get struck off from the rolls. She shall, however be re-admitted with the permission of The Head of Institute after paying a re-admission fee under rules.

A student shall be allowed to appear in the examination if she has obtained 75% attendance in all subjects.
MEDICAL CARE:
The school organizes different medicare programmes for the students at different levels during the year.
Different Ophthalmologists, Dentists, General Physicians make visits from local health care center to examine the students and prescribe them the medications needed for their health and hygiene. Further, there are adequate first aid facilities provided by the Red Cross Wing of the Institute.
PHYSICAL EDUCATION:
Physical fitness of students is taken care of through the conduct of various sports events at the Institution itself and at district, state and national level. In this connection, the following games and sports shall be organized during the session:
